For investors who are new to indoor family amusement park projects, most are unfamiliar with the material features and daily maintenance requirements of play equipment. This article introduces common materials for popular indoor play equipment in soft play areas, to serve as a reference during equipment purchasing and routine operation and maintenance. Proper equipment management helps extend service life.
Slides
Standard Plastic Slides: Common plastic slides are blow-molded from imported LLDPE engineering plastic. Colors, dimensions, slopes and lengths are customizable. Available styles include single-lane, double-lane, triple-lane and curved slides. The surface is smooth for steady sliding with low difficulty. Suitable for young kids, these slides are sturdy and durable, making them the most widely used slide type in indoor soft play parks.
FRP Spiral Slides: FRP slides are mostly designed in spiral shapes. Most indoor venues have a ceiling height of around 3 meters. Spiral slides deliver more fun and thrills within limited vertical space. They are more challenging for older children and are often combined with net tunnels and rainbow rope nets.

Play Balls
Play balls are a staple component of soft play areas with various sizes available. They are blow-molded from high-density PVC plastic, fully sealed and non-inflatable. Brightly colored, eco-friendly, non-toxic and odorless, the balls are elastic, washable, tear-resistant and cost-effective. Kids can run, jump and play freely in the ball pit with good cushioning that reduces injury risks. Many ball pits come with basketball hoops. Lightweight play balls are safe for shooting games without hurting children or damaging facilities, and help improve hand-eye coordination. Play balls can also be matched with inflatable pools, inflatable trampolines and other play items. Bright colors stimulate children's visual development. Playing with balls helps train motor skills and supports sensory and brain development.
Trampolines
Trampolines include standalone small trampolines and large trampoline parks. Jump mat and springs are core parts that determine user experience and safety. Qualified trampolines adopt imported PP jump mats with stable elasticity. They absorb impact during bouncing and reduce pressure on kids' knees and ankles. Electroplated springs feature strong fatigue resistance and a longer service life.
Electric Play Equipment
Electric attractions enrich the park's offering. Popular options include electric rockers, merry-go-rounds, electric swings and time shuttle rides. Most have stainless steel bases and PVC soft covers on contact surfaces to prevent hard impact injuries.
Soft play structural components also follow standard material specifications: support columns are generally made of 114mm national standard galvanized steel pipes; platforms use multi-layer boards as the base, wrapped with sponge and PVC leather; safety nets are woven from high-strength nylon ropes for overall play safety.
Practical Tips for Daily Equipment Maintenance Routine cleaning: Wipe painted surfaces regularly with clean soft cloths. Keep equipment away from acidic, alkaline chemicals and oil stains to avoid corrosion.
Burn marks on paintwork: Wrap a toothpick or matchstick with fine-textured hard cloth, gently rub the mark, then apply a thin layer of wax to fade the burn trace.
Water stains: Cover the mark with a damp cloth, then press the cloth gently with an iron several times to reduce watermarks.
Scratches on paintwork: For surface scratches that do not reach the base material, fill the damaged area with matching colored crayon or paint. Once dry, add a thin coat of clear nail polish for protection.
Understanding the material characteristics of indoor soft playground equipment helps park operators select suitable products matching venue positioning and target visitors. Mastering maintenance skills and carrying out regular upkeep ensures safe play, extends equipment lifespan and cuts long-term operating costs.
